Mobile device for the removal of undisturbed soil columns

Our company has developed a device for piercing small soil columns based on our lysimeter sampling technology for large soil monoliths. The device can take sample cylinders with an inner diameter between 100 and max. 200 mm and, depending on the diameter, lengths between 100 and max. 600 mm. It is possible to pierce mineral or organic soil columns. For mineral soils the cutter head is equipped with chisels, while for organic soils a smooth cutter head is used. The "Mobile Device for Removing Undisturbed Soil Columns" can be operated by yourself or by trained UGT personnel. Depending on your needs, you can use one of our current and optimized developments - you will find a selection in the product pictures - or you can work with us to develop a device that is tailored to your needs. We will be pleased to advise you.

Procedure

The procedure corresponds to the removal of large soil monoliths, whereby the soil is pre-cut to minimize the forces acting on the soil. The sample cylinder is fixed in position in a stainless steel milling head (fitted with cutting tools). The entire unit is vertically adjusted and anchored in the ground by the operator at the sampling point. The base plate is designed so that the user can stand on it to stabilize the unit with body weight during the cutting process, if necessary. The milling head is driven by an electric drive unit (cordless screwdriver) via a planetary gear. While the milling head rotates to pre-cut the soil sample, the sample cylinder inside remains completely motionless. The sample cylinder picks up the exposed soil sample true to shape. At the end, the user taps the soil sample with a spade, seals it professionally and transports it to the laboratory.
