DURAN Collection Bottles in the Suction Probe System
DURAN collection bottles, together with the various UGT connection caps, are a central component of the UGT suction probe systems for collecting pore water. To meet the diverse requirements of research and practical applications, the collection bottles are available in various sizes and the connection caps in several variants — optimally tailored to individual operating conditions.
The Three Components of Pore Water Extraction
The UGT suction probe system consists of three basic components: the suction probe, the collection vessel (e.g., a DURAN collection bottle), and the vacuum generation system. The required vacuum is generated by a suitable pump system, such as a hand pump, a semi-automatic MVF, or an automatic suction probe system.
Integration of the collection bottle into the system
The DURAN collection bottle plays a central role as the connecting element between the suction probe and the vacuum system. It is integrated into the system via the two ports in the specially designed connection cap: one port is connected to the suction probe’s capillary tube, the other to the vacuum system, such as a pump or a valve manifold with a connected pump.
Material Quality and System Leak-Tightness
Manufactured from high-quality borosilicate glass, DURAN collection bottles are characterized by excellent chemical resistance and mechanical stability. In combination with precision-manufactured UGT connection caps, they form a leak-tight and reliable system that enables loss-free sample collection even under demanding conditions.
Flexible integration into the vacuum system
For maximum flexibility during operation, individual collection bottles can be selectively disconnected from the vacuum system using shut-off valves or a UGT valve manifold with three-way valves. This simplifies the management of multiple sampling points and enables efficient parallel operation.
Safe transport of samples
After sampling, simply seal the collection bottle with the transport cap provided. This ensures that the collected pore water remains securely protected and can be transported to the laboratory without risk of contamination.
