Automatic rain gauge with plastic cover
Automatic rain gauge with plastic cover
The automatic rain gauge measures the amount of precipitation at a specific location fully automatically, both in weather stations and as a stand-alone device without an external power supply. It has a defined collection area of 214 cm².
A metrically calibrated tipping bucket picks up the collected water. If the tipping bucket is full and tilts downwards, a pulse signal is triggered via a REED sensor (pulse generator). Based on the pulse signals, the amount of precipitation is automatically recorded, e.g. via a connected pulse counter or 1-channel data logger.
The shape of the precipitation gauge reduces measurement errors due to turbulence by allowing the wind to flow around the precipitation gauge. The housing is made entirely of plastic (PE). All parts are rustproof. The rain gauge is supplied with bird spikes for bird deterrence, sieve insert, connection cable and mounting plate for pole mounting.
Heated version
The automatic rain gauge is also available with an electric heating device for recording precipitation in winter. These can be used all year round. A 230 V mains connection is required for the heated version. In addition, a 24 V power supply unit is required to generate the heating current (not included in the scope of delivery). The housing of the heated version is additionally insulated from the inside.
